CRF50 EXHAUST PIPE

Yoshimura Comp Series

ALTERNATIVES:

VROOOM! More Power! (Q Video)

TECH TIP: Use Loctite on the hanger bolt so it doesn’t come loose. Trust me, I learned from experience!

Pipe  Cone - Cheap Alternative

NO Spark Arrester

SAFETY TIP: Most aftermarket pipes do not have a heat shield. Little kids must be protected and made aware of the burn hazard of an exposed pipe.

Titanium Ti-4  $$$

SAFETY TIP: If you trail ride, pipe cones or open pipes pose a fire hazard. Only ride with pipes that have a spark arrester. Remove only for track use.

Stock CRF50 Exhaust Baffle

When we did the air filter swap we also added a pipe cone. This was a cheap way to get rid of the restrictive exhaust baffle and open up the pipe. It was a little louder and had a modest performance increase along with the K&N filter. We were looking for a little more of a performance boost and again we were going for a more “factory look” so we looked into pipes available for the Honda CRF50.

EXHAUST PIPE: PRO CIRCUIT T-4 ($239)

The Honda factory bikes use a Yoshimura pipe but we decided to go with a PRO CIRCUIT PIPE T-4 instead. They make a great pipe and if it’s good enough for teams Suzuki and Kawasaki it can’t be bad. We went with steel instead of titanium to save money. Although a little costly this was our first big performance booster. And it looks great.

Installation was pretty easy. First unbolt the stock pipe from the exhaust manifold. Then remove the hanger bolt supporting the pipe. Gently pull the pipe away from the exhaust manifold and carefully remove. Do the reverse and bolt on the new one. I do recommend you get the SERVICE MANUAL so you have the correct torque values for the bolts or see our new Torque Values page.

This pipe sounds GREAT and gave the bike a real performance boost. Combined with the new filter it revved quicker and improved torque to the point that a small rider doesn’t need to use first gear except on a steep uphill. The pipe is made really well, it had good welds and has been trouble free since we got it. If weight is a concern you might check out the Pro Circuit Ti-4 titanium version for about $80 more
